Finance OS — for testers

Private beta · Version 0.9 Prepared for friends & family

Finance OS pulls together all your bank statements into one private ledger — cash flow, budget, investments, tax. You'll test it before the wider release. The whole tour takes about ten minutes.

Step 01

Sign up in under a minute

Open the app URL you were sent, click Sign up, and choose a username and password. Everything you upload stays in your own private database — no one else, including me, sees your transactions.

After signing up, you'll land on the Dashboard.

Step 02

Import your first statement

Left sidebar → Import statements. A three-step wizard opens.

  • Choose institution. Pick your bank or broker from the list, or type a new name. Set the statement type: Bank / Broker / Loan / Tax.
  • Upload file. Drop a .csv, .xlsx, or .pdf. Click Parse file →.
  • Review & confirm. You'll see extracted transactions, duplicates, and rows that need your review. Confirm to persist.
Step 03

Review the queue

Left sidebar → Review queue. Anything the system could auto-categorize (Netflix, Auchan, SNCF …) is already done. Only rows it wasn't confident about land here.

For each row: pick a Section, then a Kind, then a Category. Optionally tick Save as rule — a popup lets you edit the keyword and shows how many past and future transactions it will catch. Tick Apply to similar to backfill in one shot.

If you edit rules and want past rows re-swept, click ⟳ Reclassify uncategorized at the top.

Step 04

Explore your dashboards

  • Dashboard — this month's cash flow, top categories, subscriptions.
  • Budget tracking — set monthly caps per category, watch actuals vs target.
  • Investments — holdings across brokers.
  • Loans & debt — balances and repayment schedules.
  • Net worth — assets minus liabilities over time.
  • Tax reports — annual summary of taxable income and deductibles.
Step 05

Tune the classifier (optional)

Settings → Rules holds your personal rules. Add anything specific to you — your employer's SEPA reference for salary, your landlord's name for rent.

Personal rules override the shared global rules automatically. Use short keywords like NETFLIX, not ACHAT CB NETFLIX.COM — it's a substring match, so shorter is stronger.

Step 06

Get help

Something broke or looks off? Left sidebar → Support, open a ticket. If it was an import failure, the parser error attaches automatically — I get the traceback without needing your file.

Quick question, or you'd rather ping me? Reach out directly.
